Programme description
English Philology part-time studies render the possibility of studying for those who, for various reasons, cannot study full-time. The studies are carried out in a system of meetings that take place on Saturdays and Sundays, every two weeks. The meetings (including lectures, classes and seminars) are conducted by qualified and experienced lecturers.
Thanks to our general academic studies, you will gain not only comprehensive, in-depth knowledge of linguistics, literary studies and culture of the English language area, but also practical skills in using English at the C1-C2 level (CEFR).
Importantly, we offer the opportunity to choose the pronunciation model that you will acquire and master during practical learning of English (British or American pronunciation).
In the course of the recruitment procedure for part-time master's studies, you will select a specific master's seminar (one of the seminars offered in a given academic year). The seminars are conducted by academics with significant scholarly achievements (research, publications, research projects/grants, etc.) as well as extensive teaching experience. As part of your studies (in addition to completing the basic subjects), you will also have the opportunity to complete the so-called elective classes. Our offer in this area includes classes in the field of linguistics (the so-called "linguistics path", recommended for people carrying out their master's seminars (projects) in the area of linguistics), as well as in the field of literary and cultural studies (the so-called "literary studies path", recommended for students attending master's seminars in the field of literary / culture studies).
Requirements under the Act on the Protection of Minors
It is a prerequisite for mandatory student work placements (internships) that the student meets the requirements set out in the Act of 13 May 2016 on Counteracting the Threat of Sexual Offences and the Protection of Minors, in particular to undergo verification in the Sexual Offenders Register and to submit information from the National Criminal Register with regard to specific offences, and in the case of students who are foreigners or who have resided in the last 20 years in countries other than the Republic of Poland, also to submit additional declarations, as well as information from the criminal records of other countries together with sworn translations. Failure to comply with the requirements set out in the above-mentioned Act will make it impossible to complete the compulsory student work placements and consequently to graduate.
